2006 FFF Panel Discussion

Panel Participant - Greg Erf

Greg Erf

Greg Erf is a professor of art at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM, where he teaches photography and 3-D animation in ENMU’s new film department. Of the new program, Erf says that their approach is “to create the total filmmaker,”  and that graduates will be qualified to direct, act, write and perform almost any other aspect of filmmaking. The program is designed so that students start out as crew members and finish as directors of their own films.
Erf received his MFA in photography and video from State University of New York at Buffalo and has a BFA in photography and film from Ohio State University. His photography has been exhibited throughout the United States as well as here in Lubbock in the Illuminance photography exhibitions hosted by the Buddy Holly Center, in which he was an award winner. His writings on photography have been published in numerous periodicals, exhibition catalogs and other publications, including “View Camera Magazine,” Robert Hirsch’s Photographic Possiblities and “The Village Voice.”
Erf also collaborates via the internet with colleague Robert Hirsch, who is a photography professor in Buffalo, NY. Their work together began twelve years ago with exhibitions and visiting lectures at one another’s institutions, and has grown into an online course on the history of photography. They are also collaborative columnists in “Photovision” magazine.
